City Festival in the Rose City

Uetersen is a town in the Pinneberg district, south of Pinneberg and northwest of Hamburg — the largest town in the Hamburg metropolitan region north of the Elbe. Uetersen is primarily known as the Rose City: the Rosarium and the centuries-old tradition of rose cultivation shape its identity. The CityFest is the annual spring city festival and utilizes this identity framework.

What to Expect

The CityFest 2026 is a classic downtown city festival with a special flea market component:

• City-Wide Flea Market — Stalls along the central streets, registration via hmf24.eu/Uetersen-City
• Market Stalls with arts and crafts, souvenirs, regional products
• Culinary Offerings — Bratwurst, fries, crêpes, ice cream, coffee, cake, beer
• Sunday Shopping — all Uetersen shops open 11:00 AM–5:00 PM
• Family-Friendly Atmosphere — areas for children, play activities
• Open-Air Character on the market square and in the surrounding streets

Logistics and Closures

For the CityFest, the market square (Marktplatz), Am Markt, and the employee parking lot behind the town hall will be closed for the flea market. Wassermühlenstraße will remain accessible. Closures begin the evening before (May 2, 2026, from 8:00 PM) and are expected to end on the festival day at 8:00 PM.

Tradition and Association

The CityFest is organized in cooperation between the Interessensgemeinschaft Handel Uetersen (IHG), Uetersen's businesses, and the event service provider HMF24.eu. The event is one of the annual highlights in the Uetersen event calendar.
