Weekly Flea Market at Rügen's Northernmost Point
The Trödelmarkt Großparkplatz Putgarten is a summer institution on the Wittow peninsula. Between May and September, dozens of wallpaper tables and folding stalls line the large parking lot every Saturday morning, which otherwise serves as a meeting point for the shuttle trains to the Cape. Classic flea market goods are offered: crockery, books, vinyl records, clothing, tools, maritime collector's items, and small antiques.
Atmosphere and Crowd
The audience is mixed: locals from Putgarten and Breege, weekend guests from nearby Juliusruh and Glowe, as well as holidaymakers on their way to Cape Arkona. The atmosphere remains informal and relaxed — not an overly organized large market, but a meeting point with a genuine flea market character. If you're lucky, you'll find maritime souvenirs, old books about Rügen, or GDR memorabilia from the island's last 40 years here.
Wittow, Putgarten, and Cape Arkona
Putgarten is located at the northernmost point of the Wittow peninsula in the Vorpommern-Rügen district. The large parking lot serves as a central mobility hub: those heading to Cape Arkona park here and walk (approx. 25 min) or take the shuttle train. The flea market utilizes the natural footfall of this location, turning the parking lot into a lively meeting point on Saturdays.
