Rose Monday parade through the twin municipality of Brohl-Lützing on the Rhine and at the mouth of the Brohlbach
Brohl-Lützing, along with the surrounding municipalities of the Brohltal administrative district, forms its own carnival landscape on the lower Rhine. The Rose Monday parade is the highlight of a whole series of parades in the VG Brohltal: while parades already take place in Weibern (Saturday) and Glees (Saturday) as well as in Königsfeld (Sunday), Brohl-Lützing forms the grand center on Rose Monday, followed by the Shrove Tuesday parade in Dedenbach and the many Niederzissen parades.
Brohl-Lützing consists of the two districts Brohl, which lies directly on the Rhine, and Lützing, which is further inland in the Brohltal valley. The carnival tradition is kept alive by the close-knit club structure of the twin municipality, where the carnival society, fire department, sports clubs, and music bands work together. The assembly at 2:00 PM opens the afternoon, which is entirely dedicated to carnival festivities.
The parade consists of floats from local carnival clubs, costumed walking groups, dance troupes, music bands, and schools. Elaborately designed themed floats humorously address local, regional, and supra-regional topics, often with references to the Brohltal, the Rhine steamer pier, or the Brohltalbahn (Vulkan-Expreß). The floats are accompanied by members who throw sweets and small gifts into the crowd.
The VG Brohltal is part of the Ahrweiler district and maintains its own carnival tradition, expressed in a variety of village carnival parades. Niederzissen, Weibern, Glees, Königsfeld, Dedenbach, and Brohl-Lützing together form a dense network of carnival dates throughout the entire carnival period. Those who want to experience the full Brohltal carnival program should plan a stay from the weekend before Ash Wednesday to Shrove Tuesday.
The Brohl-Lützing carnival parade is designed to be family-friendly. Children with bags and buckets stand by the roadside, catching 'Kamelle' (sweets). Restaurants and club pubs along the route open their doors to the celebrating guests, and afterwards, the carnival party takes place in the halls of the local clubs.
The exact 2026 program will be published by the organizer in the spring. The structure follows the proven key points of previous years:
Arrival of participating clubs from the VG Brohltal and neighboring towns, setup of floats at the assembly point, final preparations by the float crews.
Welcome of the float builders by the carnival society, distribution of starting numbers, assembly in the designated order.
Opening of the parade by the parade leader, start of movement through the town center of Brohl-Lützing.
Parade through the main street and residential streets of the twin municipality, passing dense rows of spectators. Throwing of 'Kamelle' and small gifts into the crowd. Music bands play carnival hits and march music.
Dispersal of the parade at the end point, return of the floats to the club pubs, start of carnival parties in the halls.
Carnival parties with live music and DJ sets in local restaurants. Continuation of the carnival festivities into the night.
Detailed program for 2026 will be published shortly before the date on the websites of the local carnival clubs.
