A Pirate Festival in the Heart of Wittow
The Piratenfest Rügenhof Putgarten is a classic family festival that takes place every summer on the third weekend in July – not by the harbour, but on a historic four-sided farmstead in the interior of the Wittow peninsula. This is the charming twist of the event: Pirate Otto, a permanent fixture of the Rügenhof, brings the world of seafaring and privateers to the farmyard, with costumes, mock battles, and children's activities.
SPP & DIE 7 GENERÄLE
The main attraction is the show act "SPP & DIE 7 GENERÄLE", a theatrical pirate spectacle with live-action elements and interactive moments for children. In addition, there are hands-on stations – treasure hunt, knot tying, pirate baptism – as well as a market mile with regional vendors and the farm shop with specialities from Rügen.

Putgarten is the northernmost municipality in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, located in the Vorpommern-Rügen district. The Pirate Festival is part of the seasonal program at Kap Arkona, which ranges from Viking festivals and summer concerts to Halloween farm festivals. For family holidaymakers on Rügen, it's a welcome addition to the program, which can be easily combined with a walk along the cliff coast, a visit to the lighthouse, and a stroll around the farmyard.
Piratenfest Rügenhof — edition 2026
In 2026, the Rügenhof will once again transform into a pirate cove on July 21st. Pirate Otto takes command and guides you through a five-hour family program with interactive stations, costume fun, and a grand show act.
The program includes small activities for the youngest guests (pirate baptism, treasure hunt, face painting) and a central stage show. Regional specialities await in the farm shop, and drinks and snacks are available at the market stalls.
