What is the Treptower Park Fest?

The Treptower Park Fest is the summer edition of a three-part festival series that the Berlin organizer Hauptstadt Kultur holds annually in Treptower Park. The annual cycle consists of three weekends — Treptower Festtage in spring, Sommerfest (the "Treptower Park Fest" featured here) in July, Treptower Herbst in October. All three festivals use the same area: Treptower Hafen on the Spree riverbank, the parking lot at Rosengarten, and the parking lot at Haus Zenner — three central axes of Treptower Park in the Alt-Treptow district.

Concept — Berlin Kiez Charm Meets Modern Event Culture

Hauptstadt Kultur describes the format as a "summer highlight on the Spree" that "combines Berlin Kiez charm with modern event culture." The area features an illuminated festival mile along the harbor promenade, several stages with live music and DJ sets, a large street food area, and amusement rides. This clearly distinguishes the Treptower Park Fest from smaller neighborhood festivals — it is designed as a large-scale event that attracts Berliners from all over the city.

Street Food, Stages, Rides

The street food area brings together international stalls — from BBQ and Asian specialties to sweets. During the day, cover bands, local artists, and children's programs alternate on the stages; in the evening, DJs and live acts take over. The amusement rides (carousels, Ferris wheel, bumper cars, children's carousels) are spread across the parking lots around Rosengarten and Haus Zenner — a classic Berlin funfair setting with the Spree panorama as a backdrop.

Treptower Park as a Venue

With around 88 hectares, Treptower Park is one of Berlin's largest public parks, designed in the late 19th century by Johann Heinrich Gustav Meyer. Famous landmarks include the Archenhold Observatory (Germany's oldest public observatory), the Soviet War Memorial, and Haus Zenner — a traditional Berlin excursion restaurant with a history dating back to the 17th century. Treptower Hafen on the Spree riverbank is a landing stage for excursion boats and thus an additional attraction during the festival weekend.

Who Attends

The audience is a mixed cross-section of Berlin: families with children (rides, children's stage), young Berliners (DJ sets, street food, bar), tourists (Spree panorama, excursion boats), residents from Treptow-Köpenick and Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg. Its location directly on the Spree makes the festival attractive even in summer with high temperatures — the wind from the water provides cooling, and many visitors combine the festival with a walk or a boat trip.
