About Travemünde Singt

Travemünde Singt is a new Whitsun festival format (premiere 2026) at the beach terraces of the Lübeck seaside resort. For five days, choirs and vocal ensembles from the North will perform — from maritime shanties to gospel, pop, and jazz. With views of the promenade and the Trave, the beach terraces become an open-air stage. Featuring: the Lübeck Shanty Choir Möwenschiet, the Ukrainian National Choir Namýsto, the Passat Choir, and many others. Free admission — loungers are provided.

A New Festival for Travemünde

With "Travemünde Singt", the Lübeck seaside resort is launching a new event format in 2026 — and an ambitious premiere at that. For five days, the area of the beach terraces will be transformed into a stage for choral music in all its forms. The idea: to make the diversity of North German and international choirs an experience in one of the most beautiful spots on the Baltic coast — with free admission.

The Stage: Beach Terraces

The Beach Terraces are located directly on the Travemünde promenade — with a clear view of the beach, the Trave river, and the incoming ferries. It's hard to imagine a better open-air backdrop for Whitsun concerts on the Baltic Sea. Additional loungers invite you to linger, listen, and relax, while gastronomy along the promenade provides refreshments.

The Choral Scene of the North

The program includes ensembles from various genres:

  • Maritime Music — Lübeck Shanty Choir Möwenschiet, Passat Choir (North German Coastal Songs)
  • International Ensembles — Ukrainian National Choir Namýsto
  • Gospel — Lost&Found Gospel Choir
  • Pop and Jazz — Vocalis, NuJazz Avenue, Ten to Go
  • Latin Funk — Buena Buena
  • Children's Choirs from the Music School 123

Whitsun in Travemünde

Whitsun is traditionally a peak tourist time in Travemünde. With "Travemünde Singt", the long weekend will for the first time have its own musical focus — a format that combines the maritime seaside resort atmosphere with the rich North German choral tradition and is clearly aimed at day-trippers, holidaymakers, and locals from Lübeck.

In the Hanseatic City of Lübeck

Travemünde has been a district of Lübeck since 1913 and is located 18 km northeast of the old town at the mouth of the Trave into the Baltic Sea. The seaside resort is one of Schleswig-Holstein's most visited destinations and, with "Travemünde Singt", complements its event calendar, which has so far been shaped by the Travemünder Woche sailing regatta and the International Beach Festival.

Travemünde Singt — edition 2026

Travemünde Singt 2026 runs for five days over the Whitsun weekend, from Thursday, May 21 to Whit Monday, May 25. The performance venues are the beach terraces directly on the Travemünde promenade. Participants include the Lübeck Shanty Choir Möwenschiet, the Ukrainian National Choir Namýsto, the Lost&Found Gospel Choir, Vocalis, NuJazz Avenue, Ten to Go, Buena Buena, and children's choirs from Music School 123. Free admission.

Premiere 2026 — A New Whitsun Format

The premiere edition in 2026 is intended to be the start of a new Whitsun tradition in Travemünde. Concerts are scheduled throughout the day and evening — from performances by children's choirs in the afternoon to main concerts in the late evening. Each concert lasts approximately two hours, and admission is free.
