4 days of concerts, readings, and culinary delights on the dike with a water view — August 20th to 23rd, 2026
Kulturstrand Otterndorf is a cultural festival that redefines public space. The venue is the outer dike at Otterndorf's Grünstrand — the crown of the dike facing the Elbe becomes an open-air stage, a reading salon, and a culinary mile for four days.
The 2026 edition runs from Thursday, August 20th to Sunday, August 23rd, 2026. Four days where the program and atmosphere combine into a unique festival mix in the Cuxland region.
What sets Kulturstrand apart is its setup:
The program includes daily concerts (from singer-songwriters to jazz and indie), readings by authors from the region and beyond, as well as culinary offerings that make the festival a cultural and sensory experience. The motto is: encounter, music, special atmosphere.
Otterndorf is one of the most beautiful historic marshland towns on the Lower Elbe. Kulturstrand fits into the city's rich cultural profile — from the "Nacht der Kultur" (Night of Culture) and the "Lüttes Altstadtfest" (Little Old Town Festival) to "See in Flammen" (Lake in Flames). With its location between the Elbe, the Medem, and the North Sea, Otterndorf offers a diversity of venues that few other cities in the region can match.
The detailed 2026 program will be published by the city of Otterndorf in the summer. The structure follows the proven key points of previous years:
Grünstrand / Außendeich, 21762 Otterndorf. Via the A 27 (Otterndorf exit). Train connection at Otterndorf station. Reachable from the city center on foot or by bike.
Admission conditions available at otterndorf.de/veranstaltungen/kulturstrand. Some events are free, others require tickets.
Bring a sweater — dike evenings can be cool. Picnic blankets are allowed. Check the daily program in advance.
