About Molenfeuer

The Molenfeuer is the luminous year-end celebration of the Hanseatic city of Stralsund. On New Year's Eve, spectacular fireworks rise into the sky over the Strelasund from the North Mole in the harbour. Colourful light flowers are reflected in the water, bathing the harbour island and the Sundpromenade in a festive atmosphere. The Molenfeuer has become a firm tradition – a communal moment that accompanies the maritime Hanseatic city into the new year.

New Year's Eve at Stralsund Harbour

The Molenfeuer is one of the most beautiful New Year's Eve moments in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. When darkness falls over the Hanseatic city of Stralsund on the last evening of the year, numerous people gather at the harbour to experience spectacular fireworks.

Light Flowers over the Strelasund

The fireworks are launched from the Nordmole and unfold over the Strelasund. Colourful light flowers rise into the night sky and are reflected in the waters of the Sund – an image that impressively showcases the city's maritime location.

  • Fireworks from the North Mole at the harbour
  • Starts on New Year's Eve, traditionally around 6:30 PM
  • best viewing points: Sundpromenade and Hafeninsel

A Firm Tradition

The Molenfeuer has established itself as a firm fixture of Stralsund's year-end. Unlike the later midnight fireworks, it offers a communal, family-friendly experience in the early evening – a moment when the city comes together.

Stralsund in the Vorpommern-Rügen District

The UNESCO World Heritage Hanseatic city of Stralsund is the district town in Vorpommern-Rügen and the gateway to the island of Rügen. The Molenfeuer rounds off Stralsund's event year in a festive mood and invites locals and guests alike to the winter harbour.
