Museums at Night
The Stralsund Museum Night transforms the museum city of Stralsund into an evening cultural stage. When other institutions have long since closed, the major museums of the Hanseatic city open their doors and invite you to a special evening.
Three Major Institutions
The focus is on three significant museums of the Hanseatic city:
- the OZEANEUM, one of the most visited museums in Northern Germany
- the Deutsches Meeresmuseum (German Oceanographic Museum) with its exhibitions on oceanography
- the Stralsund Museum for city and regional history
Guided tours, lectures, and catering services accompany the evening, making the Museum Night a relaxed exploration of science and history.
Light and Sound Performance
A special highlight is the opening: a light and sound performance with numerous illuminated penguin sculptures by artist Jörn Hanitzsch bathes the forecourt of the OZEANEUM in a magical atmosphere.
Pay What You Want
Admission to the Museum Night follows the 'Pay what you want' principle – each guest decides the admission fee themselves. Thus, the Stralsund Museum Night makes culture accessible to everyone and emphasizes the open character of the event in the World Heritage Hanseatic city in the Vorpommern-Rügen district.
