Organized by Gauverband I, the United Christmas Sharpshooter Societies and the Costume Societies march in a magnificent procession through the historic market after a festive Holy Mass. More than a thousand participants in traditional costume, accompanied by the music bands of Maria Gern, Berchtesgaden, Bischofswiesen, Königssee, and Ramsau, make the day an impressive showcase of living Upper Bavarian tradition. The Gauheimatabend (regional folk evening), a commemoration of the deceased, and a meeting day round off the program.
