A week of Volksfest with 21 showman businesses at Röntgenplatz and Parsevalplatz
The Frankenthal Spring Fair from April 4th to 10th, 2026, transforms Röntgenplatz and Parsevalplatz into a bustling Volksfest (traditional funfair) site. 21 showman businesses bring rides like the Shake, children's carousels, and dodgems, along with game stalls, food vendors, and sweet and ice cream stands to the city. The spring edition is traditionally opened by the Mayor – in 2026, by Bernd Knöppel on April 4th at 4 PM.
For a week, families, friends, and Volksfest enthusiasts will experience the classic funfair atmosphere right in the heart of Frankenthal.
Alongside the Strohhutfest (Hat Festival), the Spring Fair is one of the most important city events in Frankenthal's calendar. Unlike the Strohhutfest, which features stage programs and 6 stages, the Spring Fair focuses on classic showman attractions with rides, carousels, and candy stalls. For a week, the bright lights of the rides fill the evening sky above Röntgenplatz and Parsevalplatz.
In 2026, 21 showman businesses will be on-site, offering a wide range of attractions: rides like the Shake – a modern wave carousel that challenges even the brave – children's carousels in various designs (horses, cars, fairy tale figures), dodgems for the older ones, game stalls with shooting galleries, throwing games, and lucky dips.
The catering includes classic Volksfest specialties: Bratwurst, fries, crêpes, candied almonds, cotton candy, chocolate-covered fruits, gingerbread hearts, ice cream, and much more. Beer, wine, and non-alcoholic drinks are available in beer tents and at counters. A true Volksfest atmosphere that offers a taste of the summer events even in spring.
The official opening takes place on Saturday, April 4th, 2026, at 4:00 PM by Mayor Bernd Knöppel. With a symbolic keg tapping, a short welcome speech, and the first carousel rides, the fair opens – the start of a week full of Volksfest spirit.
The fair is open daily: Saturday 1:30 PM–10:00 PM, Sunday 11:00 AM–9:00 PM, Monday to Thursday 1:30 PM–9:00 PM, Friday 1:30 PM–10:00 PM. These opening hours allow for visits during the week as well as on the weekend.
