Decentralised music and cultural festival in the pottery town
Instead of a large stage in the town centre, «Tonspur Waldenburg» spreads across many small locations throughout the town. Workshops, courtyards, squares, pottery studios, cafés, and gardens transform into open stages for nine days — concerts, workshops, dance offerings, art events, and movement activities are organised by the residents themselves. The concept is accessible: anyone with an idea can register a station, and the organisation team coordinates dates, logistics, and media work.
«Tonspur Waldenburg» is not a classic cultural festival with a curated line-up, but a participatory format: «How diverse Waldenburg is and also sounds» — this is how the initiators describe their mission. Clubs, neighbourhoods, and individuals act as hosts. Anyone who wants to participate can send an email to [email protected].
Mini-concerts and singer-songwriter performances are an important part — alongside these, there are workshops (pottery, creative, movement), readings, art events, and hands-on activities for children. The event concludes with a joint concert where all participants and visitors come together.
Waldenburg is known as a pottery town — high-quality stoneware has been produced here since the Middle Ages. The town is located in the Zwickau district, in a hilly landscape on the edge of the Ore Mountains. Waldenburg Castle, the Naturalienkabinett with its curious collections, and the pottery studios are among the permanent attractions. Visitors to the festival should plan a walk to the castle park and stop by one of the pottery studios.
Stations are being registered continuously — the complete programme will be published shortly before the festival on waldenburg.de and in the local media.
Instead of a central stage, the programme items are spread across many small stations in the town — courtyards, cafés, workshops, pottery studios, gardens, and squares become stages.
A joint concert concludes the festival and brings all participants together.
