The Schützenverein Wietmarschen 1564 e.V. boasts a club history dating back to the second half of the 16th century. This makes it one of the most traditional marksmen's clubs in Lower Saxony, shaping the club life of the Wietmarschen municipality for over four centuries.

Main Club and Districts

The club encompasses the entire municipality, but within this structure, the districts maintain their own events. While the club's main festival takes place from July 3rd to 6th, 2026, the Lohne district has its own Schützenfest date, traditionally around the first weekend of July.

District Identity

As an old district, Lohne possesses its own identity, which is also manifested in its Schützenfest. The residents value the combination of customs, club life, and intergenerational work, which is particularly evident in a district-specific festival.

Bird Shooting and King's Proclamation

As with all Schützenfeste in the region, the bird shooting is the highlight of the festivities. The new Schützenkönig (marksmen's king) emerges from this competition and is celebrated at the proclamation and the king's dinner in the evening. A queen accompanies him in office.
