It is one of the newer Christmas markets in the Lower Rhine region — and one of the most charming: not a mass market, but a lovingly designed Advent weekend with around 30 decorative wooden huts, regional manufactories, and the atmosphere of a small Christmas village.

- Beeswax Candles from local apiaries
- Jewellery: Silver, precious stones, handmade designer pieces
- Woodwork: Carvings, boards, nativity scenes, toys
- Ceramics and Pottery from regional workshops
- Concrete Items: Creative home accessories, outdoor decorations

Winter Specialities
- Mulled wine (Glühwein), hot apple punch, children's punch
- Potato pancakes (Reibekuchen), bratwurst, crêpes
- Gingerbread (Lebkuchen), candied almonds, Christmas cookies
- Spritzgebäck, stollen, pralines from local confectioners
Atmosphere
What makes the Hüttenzauber special is the loving decoration: fairy lights, fir garlands, small wooden huts with lovingly decorated windows, stars, and winter art installations. The format is often described as a 'Christmas market with heart' — a conscious distinction from larger, more commercial markets.
St. Tönis erleben e.V. — The Organiser
St. Tönis erleben e.V. is the association of local entrepreneurs, clubs, and dedicated citizens who actively shape city life in St. Tönis. In addition to the Hüttenzauber, the association organises numerous other city events — summer festivals, Sunday shopping events, cultural events. The association operates entirely on a voluntary basis; information available at st-toenis-erleben.de.
Sunday Shopping Event
On Sunday, 21 December 2026, there will be a Sunday shopping event in St. Tönis — the shops in the city centre will be open from 1 PM to 6 PM, parallel to the market. An ideal opportunity to do your last Christmas shopping in peace while enjoying the atmospheric Christmas market ambiance.
St. Tönis and Tönisvorst — The Lower Rhine Region between Krefeld and Kempen
The town of Tönisvorst was formed in 1970 from the merger of the municipalities of St. Tönis and Vorst and, with around 31,000 inhabitants, is located in the Viersen district on the Lower Rhine, about 10 kilometres west of Krefeld. St. Tönis is the larger and more commercially active part — a small Lower Rhine town with characteristic cobblestone alleys, brick houses, and the late Gothic St. Cornelius Church as its centrepiece. The Hüttenzauber is one of the most atmospheric winter experiences in this region.
