Farmers' Market at the Thermal Baths

The Thermenmarkt Obernsees is one of the most consistent and popular market events in the Fränkische Schweiz. Eleven times a year, from February to December, regional producers transform the grounds around the Therme Obernsees into a lively market of enjoyment and craftsmanship – always on the first Sunday of the month from 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM.

Regional Producers from the Neubürg Region

The market is supported by the Interkommunale Allianz »Rund um die Neubürg – Fränkische Schweiz e.V.«, an association of ten municipalities around the striking table mountain Neubürg. The exhibitors largely come from the districts of Bayreuth and Forchheim, as well as the adjacent Fränkische Schweiz. The range of products is diverse:

• Sausages and meat products from Franconian butchers
• Fish from the region's carp and trout ponds
• Cheese specialties and farm butter
• Wine and spirits, brandies from distilleries in the Fränkische Schweiz
• Baked goods, honey, tea, herbs, and spices
• Flowers, fruits and vegetables, pasta, and eggs
• Ceramics, wood carvings, handicrafts, and gifts

In the Shadow of the Neubürg

Obernsees is a district of the municipality of Mistelgau in the Bayreuth district, located in the middle of the hilly landscape of the Fränkische Schweiz. The Therme Obernsees, a modern thermal and sauna complex, forms the natural center of the market: Many visitors combine their market visit with a dip in the warm springs or a hike to the nearby Neubürg, the "holy mountain" of the Fränkische Schweiz.

Flea Market and Children's Activities

From May to October, a flea market organized by TSV Plankenfels with a coffee and cake stand takes place parallel to the farmers' market. In May, July, and September, an additional children's flea market is held. This makes the market a full-day outing for families, combining shopping, snacking, and browsing.

Enjoyment between Carp, Beer, and Bocksbeutel

Mistelgau and the Neubürg region lie at the transition between the beer region of Upper Franconia, the carp region of Aischgrund, and the Fränkische Schweiz. This culinary diversity is reflected in the offerings of the Thermenmarkt, making it a reliable showcase of Upper Franconia's regional products.
