Truppach is a district of the Mistelgau municipality in the Bayreuth district, picturesquely located in the Truppachtal. Here, the Landjugend Truppach, together with the Truppachtal Tradition Preservation Association, organizes the Zeltkerwa every year — four days of festival tent, living Franconian traditions, and one of the most popular village festivals in the Bayreuth region.
Krenfleisch, Haxen, and Live Bands
Culinary, the Zeltkerwa stands for hearty Franconian cuisine: on Friday, Krenfleisch and Haxen are served from 11:30 AM, accompanied by festival beer. Live bands play in the festival tent every evening, and Saturday features the grand club night. Sunday offers folk dances and the traditional Austanzen (a dance competition), while Monday concludes the festival with a raffle.
Traditions of the Landjugend
The Zeltkerwa is carried by the young generation of the village. The Landjugend Truppach preserves Franconian traditions with the Kerwa — from the Kerwabaum (festival tree) to the folk dances. The volunteer commitment and family atmosphere make the Truppach Zeltkerwa a festival cherished far beyond the Truppachtal.
Truppachtal near Bayreuth
The Truppachtal is located in the hilly Franconian Switzerland near Bayreuth. Hiking and cycling trails through the valley invite you to combine a visit to the Zeltkerwa with an excursion into the region — from the Wagner city of Bayreuth to the rocks and caves of Franconian Switzerland.

The Zeltkerwa Truppach 2026 takes place from Friday, September 4th, to Monday, September 7th, 2026. The organizers are the Landjugend Truppach and the Truppachtal Tradition Preservation Association.
Four days of festival tent with hearty Franconian cuisine, live bands, and traditions: On Friday from 11:30 AM, Krenfleisch and Haxen; on Saturday, the grand club night; on Sunday, folk dances and Austanzen; on Monday, the festival concludes with a raffle.
