One day of Hip-Hop and Electronic music on the former Tempelhof Airport
The former Tempelhof Airport is one of Berlin's most iconic festival stages. After its closure in 2008, the vast area became Tempelhofer Feld, a public park — and has also been one of the most sought-after venues for large events like Lollapalooza Berlin or the Berlin Festival series for years. The combination of the historic airport terminal, the runways, and the open steppe landscape creates an atmosphere that no classic festival site can replicate.
TFELD is a comparatively young festival format that deliberately bridges the gap between Berlin's two dominant music scenes: Hip-Hop and Electronic. The concept comes from Team Two Sides GmbH in cooperation with Goodlive Artists, which is also behind splash! and MELT. Both festivals serve as aesthetic references — TFELD adopts the stage concept, visual identity, and program philosophy of the Goodlive series.
The festival runs on a single Saturday — August 22, 2026 — from 1 PM to 10 PM, followed by the aftershow until 6 AM. Four stages are spread across the grounds: the Hip-Hop Mainstage, the Electronic Main Stage, and two underground stages dedicated to smaller and more experimental acts. Each stage has its own stage architecture and light-sound concept. A "Secret Headliner" is part of the festival's DNA.
The program concept deliberately goes beyond pure music. The grounds feature a "kirmes-like gathering" (kirmes-like fairground), a basketball court, flea market areas, and oversized Berlin landmarks as installations. This staging — "This is Berlin" — combines festival culture with urban iconography, making TFELD a place where Berlin stages itself.
After the official festival end at 10 PM, the evening continues in a hangar, which is set up as a replica of the legendary Watergate club for the aftershow. Watergate was one of Berlin's most influential techno clubs on Oberbaumbrücke from 2002 to 2024. TFELD's homage is no coincidence: it celebrates Berlin's club culture in its canonical form.
The 2026 edition is the second iteration of the still young Berlin festival. Goodlive Artists (splash!, MELT) brings the festival aesthetic of the East German open-air classics to Tempelhof Field with its concept — an unusual bridge between East German festival culture and the Berlin club scene.
