Legendary grass track race at Pentecost on the Teterow Bergring
Few places in Northern Germany are as closely associated with motorsport as Teterow. The Bergring was laid out on the Schlachterkamp in the Teterow Heidbergen as a grass track and opened on June 29, 1930, with the first race. Even then, the crowd was immense: 7,000 paying spectators watched the start, and Baron von Schoeler from Berlin set the first lap record with a 500cc Nestoria Sport at an average speed of 59.69 km/h.
The track operator to this day is the Teterower Motor-Fahrer-Club (TMC), founded in 1928, the city's first motorsport club. In the 1930s, several Bergring races took place annually – the event was a crowd-puller from the very beginning.
The Bergring is not a flat oval, but a challenging grass circuit with inclines and declines. This topography is precisely what makes it appealing to riders and spectators. The grass track is complemented by the modern Bergring Arena, one of the most renowned speedway facilities in the region.
Traditionally, the Bergringrennen is held on Pentecost weekend: Saturday features training and the first heats, while Sunday sees the final races. In parallel, the Auerhahnpokal (Capercaillie Cup) is contested in the Arena in speedway. The Bergring town transforms into a meeting point for motorsport fans from all over Germany that weekend.
The 103rd edition of the Teterower Bergringrennen will traditionally take place in 2026 on Pentecost weekend. It is linked to the 21st ADAC Auerhahnpokal in speedway, which will be held in the Bergring Arena. On the Bergring in 2026, the ADAC Gold and ADAC Silver Helmets will be awarded – traditional trophies with high sporting significance.
On Pentecost Saturday, the grass track training and the evening speedway race with an subsequent party are the focus, while on Pentecost Sunday, the official qualifying and final races on the Bergring will follow.
The Bergring is located on Plauer Chaussee / Appelhager Chaussee in 17166 Teterow, about 15 km north of Güstrow. On race days, a shuttle bus runs from several locations in the city to the Bergring.
Camping is available on designated areas (approx. 10 Euros per unit).
Glass bottles and alcohol in hard plastic bottles are not permitted on the premises. Children up to 12 years old have free admission.
