About Tegeler Hafenfest

Every summer, the Tegeler Hafenfest transforms the Greenwichpromenade on Lake Tegel into one of Berlin's largest folk festivals (Volksfeste). For four days, tens of thousands of visitors experience live music on several stages, watersports demonstrations, arts and crafts, a children's program, and culinary street food — all with free admission, set against a postcard backdrop between the water and the lakeshore in the Reinickendorf district.

A Folk Festival by the Lake

When the pavilions are set up on the Greenwichpromenade in summer, the stages are tested, the fish roll stands open, and dragon boats glide onto Lake Tegel, one of Berlin's oldest summer festivals begins in the Tegel district (Reinickendorf borough): the Tegeler Hafenfest. The organizer is Jüttner Entertainment on behalf of the Reinickendorf District Office — admission is free.

What awaits you

Unlike purely gastronomic street food events or historically themed medieval festivals, the Tegeler Hafenfest offers the full spectrum of a classic waterside folk festival:

  • Live music on several stages: Schlager, cover bands, rock, and pop programs — the typical German summer festival sound
  • Watersports demonstrations: Dragon boats, SUP, wakeboarding, occasional demonstrations by the Berlin Water Police and DLRG
  • Over 200 exhibitors: Arts and crafts, regional products, jewelry, ceramics, textiles
  • Culinary delights: Street food from around the world, classic Berlin dishes, ice cream, and cocktails
  • Children's program: Pony rides, bouncy castles, face painting, carousels — there's even childcare on site
  • Kulturhafen atmosphere: Strolls along the promenade, views of the Tegel Harbour islands, sunsets over the lake

Tegel as Berlin's Lakeside District

The Tegel district offers a unique mix in Berlin: a large inland lake (Lake Tegel), its own harbor with Borsig industrial architecture, a former airport (now the "TXL" urban development project), and the nearby Tegeler Fließ nature reserve. The Hafenfest brings this identity to life for four days every summer — as metropolitan Berlin by the lake.

Who should visit?

Families with children, older Berliners, residents of Tegel and Reinickendorf, as well as visitors from other parts of the city come for the mix of water, music, and uncomplicated folk festival atmosphere. If you want to experience a Berlin summer festival beyond the city center, this is the place to be.
