Eight carnival parades in the Swisttal districts from February 14 to 17, 2026 – Voreifel carnival mile
The municipality of Swisttal in the Rhein-Sieg-Kreis, located between Bonn and the Eifel, is one of the carnival strongholds of the Voreifel. Instead of a central parade, the municipality maintains a dense network of eight district parades – each of the independent carnival societies organizes its own parade in its own town, coordinated through the municipal administration.
The "tollen Tage" (crazy days) 2026 fall on February 14 to 17. The eight Swisttal parades are spread across the four carnival days – a clear district format with a precise timetable:
Mayor Tobias Leuning personally welcomed the carnival season: "The carnival season is a wonderful opportunity to leave the worries of everyday life behind for a few hours." The municipality supports the carnival societies logistically (road closures, waste disposal, security coordination) and organizes the joint event calendar.
Unlike the international Cologne Rose Monday parade, the Swisttal parades are village and district formats – personal, approachable, with homemade floats and walking groups from neighbors, schools, and clubs. The atmosphere is familiar, the thrown sweets are plentiful, and the "Helau" shouts (in the Voreifel, also "Alaaf" in the transition area to the Cologne dialect) are loud. One of the most beautiful ways to experience Rhenish carnival without big city hustle and bustle.
Swisttal is located about 25 km southwest of Bonn, in the western part of the Rhein-Sieg district. The municipality consists of several historical villages that have retained their independence. This diversity is also reflected in the carnival: each town has its own carnival society with its own traditions.
Four carnival days, eight district parades, a Voreifel carnival in its most intimate form. Floats, walking groups, music corps, and candy everywhere.
