Sulmingen Village Festival — Oberschwaben's unifying village festival
The Sulmingen Village Festival has been one of the largest and best-known village festivals in Oberschwaben for years. What makes it so special: It is not organized by a single association, but by the entire village community — around 500 volunteers from all Sulmingen associations, from the fire department to the sports club, the music association, the rural women's association, youth groups, and the parish community, jointly organize two days of festival weekend. Sulmingen is a district of the municipality of Maselheim in the Biberach district (Baden-Württemberg).
Five stages — five atmospheres
The village festival simultaneously uses several stages, each with its own character:
- Reiterbühne — Main stage with big live bands
- Festgarten — Open-air stage with brass music and Swabian bands
- Haifischbar — Themed bar with live music and DJ sets
- Waldemar Bar — another themed bar in the village center
- Festzelt — classic festival tent with catering by local associations
You can move freely between the stages — free admission between all performance venues.
Bands 2026 — Program Highlights
Confirmed for Saturday: Saddle n' Boots (Country/Rock), Pigg Ass (Oberschwaben's AC/DC cover band), Hot Tube and DJ sets for the younger crowd. Sunday then: Hannes und seine Schlawiner (Folk music classics), Musikverein Baltringen, Zwoi hand voll Blech (Swabian brass music combo), High Tension and many more. A broad mix of brass music, Schlager, Country, Rock and Pop, catering to the whole village and all generations.
Culinary Delights and Crafts
The village festival foregoes the usual festival food court mainstream and focuses on Swabian-Oberschwabian specialties, cooked and served by the Sulmingen residents themselves: Maultaschen, Käsespätzle, Kutteln (an Oberschwaben specialty!), Swabian Vesper, Rostbraten and cakes — all at the association stands with a clear regional connection. In addition, there is traditional craftsmanship — demonstrations, sales, arts and crafts. For children, the popular Punch and Judy show runs several times a day.
Sulmingen and Maselheim
Sulmingen is located in the Oberschwaben hill country between Biberach and Laupheim, in the municipality of Maselheim. With only a few hundred inhabitants, Sulmingen is a classic Swabian village — but the sheer density of club life makes it possible to organize a village festival of this size with 500 helpers. The mix of down-to-earthness, cross-generational commitment, and musical diversity attracts thousands of visitors from the entire Biberach district and the Oberschwaben region to Sulmingen every year.
