Franconian Kirchweih Traditions near Bamberg
The Strullendorf Kirchweih, known in the local dialect as 'Strullendorfer Kerwa', is a staple in the Kirchweih calendar of the Bamberg district in the Franconian Tuscany. For four days, the municipality of Strullendorf and its associations celebrate around the Hauptsmoorhalle, complete with a festival tent and a spacious outdoor area.
The Kirchweih Festival Parade
The main event is the grand Kirchweih festival parade on Saturday afternoon. Following this, the Kirchweih tree is erected, and the festival is officially opened by the mayor, accompanied musically by the Zeegenbachtal music club.

Festival Tent and Amusement Park
A festival tent with a large outdoor area, along with amusement rides and game stalls operated by showmen, are integral parts of the Kerwa. The Strullendorf Kirchweih combines Franconian traditions with exuberant festival culture, attracting visitors from the entire Bamberg region.
Strullendorfer Kerwa — edition 2026
From July 3 to 6, 2026, the Strullendorf Kerwa invites you to the Hauptsmoorhalle. Friday kicks off with festival operations, the digging up of the Kirchweih, and a rock evening with a live band. On Saturday, the Kirchweih groups parade through the town in a grand procession; afterwards, the Kirchweih tree is erected and the Kirchweih is officially opened, accompanied by the Zeegenbachtal music club. Sunday offers a Weißwurst breakfast with a card tournament and a festival service in St. Paul's Church, while Monday features a family afternoon with a magician and awards for the best Kirchweih floats.

Getting There
Hauptsmoorhalle, Forchheimer Straße, 96129 Strullendorf. By car via the A73 (Strullendorf exit) or the B505. Strullendorf train station is on the Bamberg–Forchheim line.
