Street Art between Lech and Castle
Every year in midsummer, the Streetfestival Füssen fills Füssen's old town with international street artists. Unlike large open-air stage formats, the festival deliberately focuses on unplugged performances: musicians and artists play right in the narrow alleys, on the Stadtbrunnen-Platz, or on the banks of the Lech, often as roving acts that move from one alley to another.
Program Spectrum
The spectrum is broad: street music ranging from DJ sets to house, rock, and pop, as well as Latin American sounds and great classics. In addition, there is acrobatics, contemporary dance, theater, and performance. International acts from Europe, South and Central America, and Asia are regularly part of the lineup curated by Füssen Tourismus und Marketing.
Arts and Crafts and Culinary Diversity
Parallel to the stage art, craftspeople open their stalls in the old town, presenting handmade jewelry, leather goods, ceramics, and textiles. The gastronomy ranges from Allgäu specialties (Käsespätzle, Allgäuer Knödel, Bergkäse) to street food from around the world: Indian curries, tacos, crêpes, pita specialties.
Atmosphere and Format
The intimate atmosphere is characteristic: no fixed stages, no VIP areas, no admission fees. Visitors stroll through Reichenstraße, stop at a performance, move on, and stumble upon the next performer by chance. The festival is a tradition in Füssen's summer calendar and part of the city's tourist profile on the Lech, which is otherwise known primarily for Neuschwanstein Castle, Hohenschwangau, and the Forggensee Festival Theatre.
Füssen – Gateway to the "Königswinkel"
Füssen is located in southwestern Bavaria (Ostallgäu district) on the Lech river, framed by the Allgäu Alps. The historic old town with the Hohes Schloss, the Mang Church, and the St. Mang Monastery Church forms the backdrop for the festival. Arrival is by train (RB Munich–Füssen, final stop Füssen) or car (A7 / B17). During the festival days, parking in the city center is scarce – Park & Ride is recommended.
