Romantic Christmas Market in the Baroque Klosterhof St. Mang — magical and fairytale-like in the Allgäu
In the historic center of Füssen at the end of the Romantic Road lies the former Benedictine monastery St. Mang. Its baroque Klosterhof becomes the atmospheric setting for the Füssen Christmas Market on two Advent weekends. The motto: magical – fairytale-like. The baroque architecture, festively illuminated, creates a particularly romantic Christmas atmosphere.
At the market stalls, visitors will find arts and crafts, gift ideas, Christmas decorations, handmade soaps, and wood carvings. The culinary offerings range from mulled wine and punch to roasted almonds and chestnuts, as well as Allgäu specialties and Christmas pastries. The manageable, lovingly designed market focuses on quality rather than quantity.
Regional musicians, singers, alphorn players, and a children's choir perform on the baroque loggia of the monastery. Stilt walkers, an Ice Princess, and other walking acts roam the market, creating fairytale moments — especially for the youngest visitors.
Füssen is the highest town in Bavaria and the gateway to the royal castles of Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau. The baroque old town with the High Castle, Lechfall, and Forggensee makes Füssen one of the most beautiful destinations in the Allgäu — the Christmas market in Klosterhof St. Mang is an atmospheric occasion for a winter visit.
The Füssen Christmas Market 2026 takes place on two Advent weekends in the Klosterhof St. Mang: on the 2nd Advent (December 4–6) and the 3rd Advent (December 11–13, 2026). The organizer is Füssen Tourismus und Marketing.
In the baroque courtyard of the monastery, stalls with arts and crafts, gifts, and Allgäu specialties invite visitors to stroll, while musicians, choirs, alphorn players, and a children's choir perform on the loggia. Stilt walkers and an Ice Princess create a fairytale atmosphere.
