EAT — DRINK — DANCE on Schadowplatz — four days of food trucks, DJs, and dancing in the heart of Düsseldorf city centre
For years, the Street Food & Music Festival has been one of the most successful eat-and-dance formats in western Germany. The organiser is JUST Festivals Event Media GmbH from Dortmund, which runs events in several cities with the same concept — Cologne, Düsseldorf, Dortmund, Moers, Heidelberg, Kassel, Aplerbeck. The Düsseldorf edition, held in early September on Schadowplatz, is one of the most prominent stops.
Over forty food trucks and stalls gather for the four days around Schadowplatz. The offerings are international and consistently street food: Greek pita, Peruvian anticuchos, Korean BBQ, Italian pasta, vegan crepes, German bratwurst, American burgers, Japanese sushi. In addition, there are cocktail trucks, craft beer stands, and bars with smaller snacks. The stalls sometimes change between festival days — those who come on multiple days won't necessarily see the same thing.
The music concept is tailored to the time of day: during midday and the afternoon, lounge and soulful house sounds are played, perfect for eating and lingering. In the evening, party DJs take over with house, disco-funk, and occasionally techno for the younger crowd. There are no live bands in the classic sense — the festival thrives on its soundscape, not on a concert format.
Schadowplatz is located right in the heart of Düsseldorf city centre — directly between Schadowstraße (one of Germany's highest-grossing shopping streets) and Königsallee. This location makes the festival the perfect complement to a shopping weekend: anyone hungry after strolling along the Kö is at the festival in two minutes. Düsseldorf — the state capital of North Rhine-Westphalia, a city district on the Rhine — is one of the festival's most important locations, with nearly 650,000 inhabitants.
Like all stops in the JUST Festivals series, the Düsseldorf edition is completely free to enter — you only pay for what you actually eat and drink. This makes the festival a relaxed city event: families come with children for a quick snack, young adults start their evening here, office colleagues drop by after work for an hour. Four days, four different moods.
Four days of street food festival in the heart of Düsseldorf: 3 to 6 September 2026 on Schadowplatz. Over 40 food trucks, an international selection from Greek cuisine to vegan street food, plus DJs playing continuously between lounge and party house.
The programme is part of the nationwide Street Food & Music Festival series by JUST Festivals Event Media GmbH from Dortmund. Further locations are also announced for 2026 — including Kassel, Aplerbeck, Cologne, Moers, Dortmund, and Heidelberg in May/June.
