International cuisine, live music, and street circus on Lieselotte-Berger-Platz
Rudow is a district on the southern outskirts of Berlin, in the Neukölln borough, not far from the border with Brandenburg. Lieselotte-Berger-Platz in the center of Rudow is small but ideal for a three-day street food festival: about one hectare of asphalt, surrounded by shops and residential buildings, with good U-Bahn (subway) access (U7 terminus Rudow). The festival has been a fixed date in Berlin's March calendar here for several years, long before the open-air season truly begins.
The gastronomic concept clearly focuses on diversity: Indian curries, African stews, Jamaican jerk chicken, French crêpes, Italian pasta and pizzas, plus creative burgers, tacos, spicy curries, and churros. Vegan and vegetarian options are explicitly planned, with several completely plant-based stalls usually on site. Hot drinks are available in the beer tent for warmth – mulled wine in March sounds absurd, but is often welcome at Berlin temperatures.
Hauptstadt Kultur curates a stage program each year that fits the character of a street food festival: Friday evening features a 90s party with a DJ, Saturday a live band (in recent years often Volxroxx or similar rock-Schlager acts), and Sunday a relaxed reggae, blues, and jazz brunch. Additionally, a street circus with jugglers and acrobats roams among the stalls on weekends.
Admission is a symbolic €2 per person and also serves as a voucher for the beer tent – so if you have a drink, you get your money back. Children up to twelve years old are free. This clearly positions the festival as a family-friendly spring event, not a party format.
The spring festival kicks off the street food season in southern Berlin. Hauptstadt Kultur (with Jüttner Entertainment in the background) sets up around two dozen food stalls, a beer tent with hot drinks, and a stage for DJs and live acts on the square.
The weekend is clearly structured: Friday afternoon opens the festival, followed by a DJ set in the evening; Saturday is the highlight with a live band and street circus; Sunday offers a relaxed family brunch with reggae vibes. Those wanting to attend in 2026 should plan for Saturday afternoon – the narrow square can get crowded around midday.
Take the U-Bahn U7 to the final stop Rudow, then a five-minute walk via Neuköllner Straße to Lieselotte-Berger-Platz. Bus lines 171, 271, 371 to Rudow. By car, park in the residential streets around the square (no paid parking).
€2 per person, redeemable as a voucher in the beer tent. Children up to 12 years: free. Ticket office on site, no advance booking necessary.
For a quiet experience: Friday afternoon right after opening at 2 PM. For live music and the full program: Saturday afternoon to evening. For a relaxed brunch: Sunday around lunchtime.
