Bavarian Volksfest on the village green of the BER airport community
The Schönefelder Oktoberfest is the traditional late summer Volksfest (public festival) of the Schönefeld municipality. It takes place annually at the end of September on the village green of the Alt-Schönefeld district – the historic village center of the municipality, which is now primarily known as the airport community of BER (Berlin Brandenburg „Willy Brandt"). In 2026, the festival will run on the weekend of September 18th and 19th.
The Schönefelder Oktoberfest follows the proven Bavarian format:
The municipality of Schönefeld (around 15,000 inhabitants) is located in the Dahme-Spreewald district, south of Berlin directly on the city border. It is the location of Berlin Brandenburg „Willy Brandt" Airport (BER), which opened in 2020. Despite the major airport, the Alt-Schönefeld district has retained its village structure – with a historic village green, church, and half-timbered houses. The Hans-Grade-Allee (seat of the municipal administration) commemorates the German aviation pioneer Hans Grade (1879–1946).
Schönefeld is optimally connected to Berlin via S-Bahn line S9 and regional train (Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg). From BER station, it's about a 5-minute walk to the Alt-Schönefeld village green. By car, take the A113 (Berliner Stadtring), exit Schönefeld-Nord.
The Schönefelder Oktoberfest 2026 will take place on September 18th and 19th, 2026, on the Alt-Schönefeld village green in the BER airport community. The municipality of Schönefeld is the organizer.
Freshly tapped beer will be served in the festival tent on the village green, along with Weißwurst, Brez'n, Hendl, and other Bavarian specialties. Live bands will provide the atmosphere during the day, while DJ sets take over in the late evening. Traditional attire – Dirndl and Lederhosen – are welcome, and the children's program complements the family offerings.
Admission is free. Beer (Maß/Halbe), Bavarian specialties, and all food are paid for directly at the festival tent and stands.
