Summer Festival Amidst Narrenzunft Tradition

While most Swabian-Alemannic Narrenzünfte focus on the winter Fastnacht between Epiphany and Ash Wednesday, the Narrenzunft Dauchingen keeps a second tradition alive with its summer Straßenfest — a festival that brings together the Zunft, the municipality of Dauchingen, and the Swabian-Alemannic Fastnacht family even in summer. In 2026, the Straßenfest will take place on August 22 and 23 (Saturday and Sunday).

Location: Wilhelm-Feder-Straße and Zunftstube

The festival unfolds on Wilhelm-Feder-Straße directly in front of the Zunftstube — the Narrenzunft's club house at Wilhelm-Feder-Straße 17. The Zunft has owned the club house for over 30 years and is currently investing in extensive renovations, including sanitary, electrical, and energy efficiency measures; the 2026 Straßenfest is part of the Zunft's fundraising communication, where members donating from 15 Euros can participate in a raffle for the use of the Zunftstube including a beer keg.

Guest Zünfte from the Schwarzwälder Narrenvereinigung

The Narrenzunft Dauchingen is a member of the Schwarzwälder Narrenvereinigung, the regional umbrella organization for the South Swabian-Alemannic Fastnacht. Traditionally, guest Narrenzünfte from the Black Forest attend the Straßenfest — a low-threshold way of maintaining Zunft contacts outside the Fastnacht season. The Swabian press regularly reports on the weekend event; the festival is considered a regionally well-known summer date for the Fastnacht family.

Over 70 Volunteers and a Cross-Generational Festival

Every year, the Narrenzunft Dauchingen mobilizes over 70 volunteers for the Straßenfest — remarkable for a community of around 3,600 inhabitants. Festival tents, beer stands, and food stalls are set up in front of the Zunftstube; live music (typically brass or dance bands from the region) creates the atmosphere on Saturday evening. Sunday is family-oriented with a Frühschoppen (morning pint) and children's program.

Dauchingen is a municipality with around 3,600 inhabitants in the Schwarzwald-Baar district in the state of Baden-Württemberg, located between Schwenningen and Villingen at the transition from the Black Forest to the Baar region. The Narrenzunft is one of the defining associations in the community — alongside the music club, sports clubs, and fire department. The Straßenfest, along with the Narrentreffen during the Fastnacht season, is one of the most important club events of the year.
