Traditional Heimat- und Wiesenfest on the first weekend of July
The Heimat- und Wiesenfest Sparneck, alongside the autumn Kirchweih, is one of the social highlights of the year in the Upper Franconian market town of Sparneck in the Hof district. It takes place every year on the first weekend of July and is organized by the market town of Sparneck together with local clubs. Wiesenfest (meadow festivals) have a long tradition in Upper Franconia as summer folk and homeland festivals.
The traditional program includes a church service, a festive parade through the town, and a balloon competition where children release balloons with attached cards. Various bands provide musical entertainment, complemented by festival activities with catering and convivial gatherings of the village community.
The Wiesenfest combines secular festival activities with local traditions: the parade and the participation of the clubs make it a declaration of commitment to the village community. Like many Upper Franconian homeland festivals, it thrives on volunteer engagement and the solidarity of its citizens.
Sparneck is located in the northern Fichtelgebirge, a wooded low mountain range in northeastern Bavaria. The Heimat- und Wiesenfest invites visitors to experience the friendly atmosphere of a Franconian market town and the vibrant club culture of the northern Fichtelgebirge in the summer.
The 2026 edition of the Heimat- und Wiesenfest Sparneck will take place on the first weekend of July, from Friday, July 3rd, to Sunday, July 5th, 2026. The market town of Sparneck, together with local clubs, is organizing the event. The traditional program includes a church service, a festive parade through the town, the popular children's balloon competition, and live music from various bands, along with festival activities and catering. The detailed program will be announced by the market town of Sparneck before the festival. Admission is free.
Sparneck is located in the Hof district, accessible via the A9 motorway (exit Münchberg/Gefrees) and state roads towards Münchberg/Zell. The event takes place on the festival grounds or in the town center.
