About Wildpark-Weihnachtsmarkt
Wildpark-Weihnachtsmarkt — edition 2026
The 2026 edition builds on the successful concept of the 2024 premiere: four Advent weekends where the market takes place alongside the regular wildlife park operations. Visitors can combine guided feedings of wolves, lynxes, and red deer with festive snacks, Glühwein, and arts and crafts stalls. The exact dates for Santa Claus and Mother Holle's visits will be announced by the Wildpark in due course.

Advent Market in the 200-Hectare Wildpark
The Wildpark-MV is located just outside the Barlach town of Güstrow in the Rostock district and, at around 200 hectares, is one of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern's largest wildlife parks. Since 2024, the grounds have become the stage for an extraordinary Christmas market during the Advent season, deliberately focusing on the experience of animals and nature rather than urban hustle and bustle.
What Makes the Market Special
- Lovingly decorated stalls with arts and crafts and Advent decorations
- Festive snacks: Bratwurst, Reibekuchen, Glühwein, Kinderpunsch
- Children's carousel with classical music
- Warming fire pits along the forest paths
- Daily guided animal feedings during market hours
- Encounter with wolves, lynxes, red deer, wild boars, and more
Program on All Four Advent Weekends
The market is open every Saturday and Sunday between 11:00 AM and 4:00 PM. On selected days, Santa Claus and Mother Holle visit families in the park – an experience that particularly delights younger children. Carillons, fairy lights, and animal sounds create an atmosphere that no city market can replicate.
Concept and Sponsorship
The Wildpark is operated by a management company that sees environmental education as a core task alongside animal welfare. The Christmas market complements the offerings with a seasonal experience and has become one of the most popular Advent destinations in southern Mecklenburg since its premiere in 2024.
Experience the Region
Visitors to the Wildpark-Weihnachtsmarkt should combine their day with a walk around the Güstrow lakes or a stop in the old town of the Barlach city, with its castle, cathedral, and Ernst Barlach Atelier.
