A Village Festival with Tradition in the Donauried

The Straßenfest of the Dorfgemeinschaft Straß-Moos is one of those small, identity-shaping summer festivals that characterize the club life of Upper Bavarian villages. It takes place on the Dorfplatz Straß (Straß Village Square), the central meeting point of the Burgheim district between the Danube and the Schrobenhausen region.

Organiser: the Dorfgemeinschaft Straß-Moos

The organiser of the festival is the Dorfgemeinschaft Straß-Moos – an association of clubs and residents from the two Burgheim districts of Straß and Moos. The festival is considered the most important source of income and, at the same time, a meeting point for the entire village. The Straß-Moos volunteer fire brigade is also closely involved.

Programme and Schedule

The festival begins on Saturday evening and ends on Sunday afternoon. On Saturday, the village community opens the festival activities on the village square, followed by music and a convivial get-together. Sunday morning starts with a Frühschoppen (morning pint) and musical accompaniment; in the afternoon, the festival continues with lunch and coffee and cake.

Burgheim and the Donauried

The market town of Burgheim is located in the district of Neuburg-Schrobenhausen in Upper Bavaria, in the middle of the fertile Donauried between Ingolstadt and Donauwörth. The Straßenfest in Straß is one of several small village festivals celebrated every year in the various districts of the market town, keeping rural Bavarian club life alive.
