AdventsTreff Diezer Marktplatz

The Diezer Marktplatz is one of the most beautiful historic squares in the Lahntal valley. Framed by half-timbered houses, the town hall, and a view of the castle towering over the Lahn river, it offers a perfect backdrop for pre-Christmas cheer.

The AdventsTreff adopts a different concept than the classic weekend Christmas markets: instead of opening only on Advent weekends, the market runs from November 26 to December 19, 2026 – throughout the entire Advent season. This makes it a meeting point for the people of Diez and their guests, which can be visited repeatedly, not just once during Advent.

The offerings include craft stalls with Advent decorations, nativity scenes, candles, pottery, woodwork, and small gifts. Culinary delights are a central element: mulled wine (Glühwein), punch, cookies, bratwurst, crêpes, along with changing specialties from the Lahntal region.

An Advent program accompanies the weeks: performances by brass choirs, cantatas, school groups, small theatrical formats, and a visit from St. Nicholas on December 6. The exact dates will be communicated by the City of Diez and event websites.

The location on the market square and in close proximity to Wilhelmstraße makes the AdventsTreff an ideal starting point for an Advent excursion to Diez, which can be well combined with a visit to Oranienstein Castle and a stroll through the historic city center.
