Freilassing Town Festival

Freilassing in the Berchtesgadener Land

Freilassing is a town in the Berchtesgadener Land district (AGS 09172), located directly on the border with Austria and on the Saalach River. With its proximity to Salzburg, Freilassing sees itself as the "Gateway to the Berchtesgadener Land" and is home to, among other things, the Lokwelt Museum, an important railway museum in the region. The town festival brings together the town's club life and its cultural and gastronomic scene once a year.

Badylon Grounds as the Venue

The venue is the Badylon grounds at Aumühlweg 9, directly next to the municipal Badylon adventure pool. The open space offers room for several stages or a main stage area, stands for clubs and gastronomy, as well as for a family and children's program.

Program and Character

The town festival typically runs from midday until late evening (1:00 PM – 11:45 PM). The program features a mix of live music from local and regional bands, culinary offerings from clubs, hands-on activities for families, and performances by local dance or traditional groups. Admission is free, underscoring its character as a Volksfest (public festival) for the entire town.

A Municipal Summer Festival

With a duration of only one day, the Freilassing Town Festival is more compact than the Volksfeste of larger Bavarian cities. This gives it its character as a gathering of the town community at the end of a long day. Families from Freilassing, Bad Reichenhall, Salzburg, and the surrounding southern areas use the occasion to come together.
