Gartenfest Irsingen

Summer festival in the club house courtyard

The Gartenfest Irsingen is the traditional summer festival of the clubs in Irsingen, a district of the Markt Türkheim (Unterallgäu district, Bavaria). The venue is the courtyard of the Irsingen club house at Dorfstraße 31. It is organized by the Irsingen Shooting Club and the local Irsingen Music Association, who host the festival as a joint club event.

Mariä Himmelfahrt – a Bavarian public holiday

The festival traditionally falls on Mariä Himmelfahrt (August 15th), a public holiday in Bavaria. This makes the Gartenfest perfectly timed: families have the day off, day-trippers from Türkheim and the surrounding area visit, and the village community meets for a festive lunch, coffee, and an afternoon together.

Program structure

The festival concept follows the classic Swabian-Bavarian Gartenfest model: 11:00 AM festival start, warm meals at midday (roast pork, Schäuferla, sausages, sauerkraut), coffee and homemade cakes in the afternoon, accompanied by brass band music from the music association, and play opportunities for children. The festival concludes in the evening at the club house.

Türkheim and Irsingen in the Unterallgäu

Türkheim is a market town with around 7,500 inhabitants in the Unterallgäu district (Swabia, Bavaria). The municipality is located between Memmingen and Mindelheim and is divided into several districts, including Irsingen. Club life in the districts is rich in tradition – shooting and music clubs shape the village festival culture.
