Community Festival in Cottbus-Sachsendorf

The Sachsendorf-Madlow district is the largest contiguous prefabricated housing estate in the Lusatian metropolis of Cottbus — built in the 1970s and 80s as a residential city for energy industry workers. The Sachsendorfer Bürgerfest has been the identity-forming community festival of the neighbourhood since the early 2000s.

June 12–14, 2026 — Three Days of Festivities

The festival runs from Friday, June 12th to Sunday, June 14th, 2026. The main venue is the Sachsendorfer tent on Gelsenkirchener Platz.

Programme Highlights

• Friday evening — Foam party with DJ Tobi: A classic of the Sachsendorfer Bürgerfest
• Saturday — Soapbox derby: Self-built racers speed down Sachsendorfer Straße
• Stage programme on all three days with bands and solo artists
• Club Street featuring Sachsendorf clubs and social organisations
• Children's programme with carousel, bouncy castle, and interactive activities

Patronage of the Lord Mayor

The patron of the 26th edition is the Lord Mayor of Cottbus, Doreen Mohaupt. This underscores the city's recognition of the Bürgerfest's importance for the Cottbus district.

Organiser

The organiser is the Bürgerverein Sachsendorf/Madlow e.V., which has been organising the festival since 2001. The voluntary work of the association members is the backbone of the event.
