The Bürgerpark as a Festival Meadow
Abstatt is a municipality with around 4,800 inhabitants in the Heilbronn district (state of Baden-Württemberg), located on the western edge of the Schozach-Bottwartal region between Heilbronn, Beilstein, and Ilsfeld. The Bürgerpark behind the town hall at Rathausstraße 30 is one of the central green spaces of the municipality – and once a year, the venue for the Bürgerparkfest, which the municipality and the Turn- und Gesangverein organize together.
Two-Day Festival Format
The Bürgerparkfest traditionally lasts for two days, usually a Saturday-Sunday weekend at the beginning of July. Over the two festival days, live bands from the Heilbronn-Franken region play on the open-air stage in the park – cover bands, acoustic acts, and music clubs alternate. Catering is provided by clubs, the fire department, and local restaurateurs with grilled specialties, Swabian Maultaschen, wine from the nearby Württemberger Weinland, and of course, beer.
HANDGETAN Arts and Crafts Market on Sunday
Sunday also features the HANDGETAN arts and crafts market. Exhibitors from the Heilbronn-Franken area present their handmade unique items: ceramics, jewelry, textiles, woodwork, prints, natural cosmetics. The atmosphere is familial – the makers are usually present at their stands, sharing the story behind their creations.
Family Program and Atmosphere
The park offers plenty of space for children to play, along with a dedicated activity area with a bouncy castle, face painting, and hands-on workshops. Those seeking a moment of peace can find it under the old trees at the edge of the park. The atmosphere at the Bürgerparkfest is decidedly neighborly – not a mass event, but a festival where Abstatt celebrates with its own residents and guests from the surrounding municipalities of Beilstein, Ilsfeld, and Untergruppenbach.

Festival Weekend at the Beginning of July
The Bürgerparkfest 2026 follows the proven two-day format: Saturday, July 4th, 2026, the festival begins in the late afternoon with an opening by the mayor and club representatives, then live bands take over the open-air stage until late at night. Sunday, July 5th, 2026, the festival grounds open again from the morning – in addition to catering, the HANDGETAN market sets up its stalls in the park.

Getting There
Abstatt can be reached via the A 81 motorway (Ilsfeld exit, approx. 5 km) or the B 27 federal road (Heilbronn–Beilstein). By public transport: Bus 666 Heilbronn–Beilstein, stop Abstatt Rathaus, from there approx. 200 m walk to the Bürgerpark. Parking available at the sports field and in the town center.
Opening Hours
Saturday from late afternoon until late evening. Sunday all day (approx. 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM) with a morning pint, arts and crafts market, and festival winding down in the late afternoon.
Admission
Free admission to the Bürgerpark and festival grounds. Food and drinks at club stands at festival prices.
