Four days of festival mile in the historic old town of the Lower Franconian wine village of Bürgstadt — wine, beer, live music, and culinary delights on the Main river
Bürgstadt is located in the extreme northwest of Bavaria, in the Miltenberg district on the Bavarian Main river, opposite Miltenberg on the right bank of the Main. The market town is one of the oldest wine-growing areas in Franconia — the Bürgstadt vineyards were already documented in the 8th century. The historic old town with its half-timbered houses, courtyards, and narrow alleys is an ideal backdrop for a town festival that showcases the architecture.
Unlike many classic folk festivals (Volksfeste), the Bürgstadt Street and Courtyard Festival is not concentrated on a defined fairground, but spreads across Freudenberger Straße and the adjacent alleys of the old town. Clubs, vintners, and restaurateurs turn their courtyards and inner courtyards into festival venues — hence the name "Street and Courtyard Festival". Visitors stroll from courtyard to courtyard, each with its own atmosphere.
As Bürgstadt is an exclusively wine-growing village, Franconian wine is at the center of the culinary offerings: Bürgstadter Centgrafenberg, one of the most famous Franconian red wine sites for Pinot Noir, complemented by Silvaner, Müller-Thurgau, Riesling. The local wineries Rudolf Fürst, Stich, Maag, and others serve their own wines directly on the festival mile. In addition, there is regional beer and Franconian delicacies (Schäuferla, Bratwurst, Zwiebelkuchen).
The program concept is clear: free admission to all concerts. Bands from the Untermain region and Southern Germany play on several stages spread throughout the old town — cover bands, acoustic trios, Franconian folklore, pop, and rock. This accessibility attracts a mixed audience: Bürgstadt families, tourists from Miltenberg and Aschaffenburg, wine lovers, and younger festival-goers.
The festival date traditionally falls on the second weekend in July. For 2026, July 10th-13th is expected (Friday to Monday). The market town of Bürgstadt and the participating clubs jointly organize the festival.
The 2026 edition is expected for July 10th-13th, 2026 (second weekend in July) via the event page of the Market town of Bürgstadt and the 100-Genussorte-Bayern portal. The festival is organized by the Market town of Bürgstadt together with local clubs, wineries, and restaurateurs.
Detailed times for stage acts, courtyard programs, and the festival opening ceremony will be published in advance in the local press (Main-Echo, Bayerischer Untermain) and on the market's website. Program flyer available as a PDF download.
