Autumn market on German Unity Day in the small Enzkreis town on the northern Black Forest edge
Neuenbürg is located in the Enzkreis district in the state of Baden-Württemberg, on the northern edge of the Black Forest, on the Enz river. Every year on October 3 – German Unity Day – the town hosts the Stoppelmarkt, a classic autumn market with a traditional market character. In 2026, October 3 falls on a Saturday, which will increase visibility and visitor frequency.
At the 2026 Stoppelmarkt, numerous stalls will be spread along the main streets of the town center: Handicrafts — knitted and crocheted items, pottery, woodwork, jewelry — individual gift items, leather goods, fashion and accessories, regional food (Black Forest specialties, honey, schnapps, cheese). The town's clubs — sports club, fire department, church communities — will offer food and drinks with bratwurst, crêpes, coffee, and cake.
In the former Volksbank building in the town center, a hobby and craft market will take place concurrently. Local artists and hobby craftspeople will exhibit their work here: paintings, watercolors, pottery, jewelry, woodwork, patchwork. The indoor market complements the open-air Stoppelmarkt with a curated craft section – a second focal point of the market in an enclosed setting.
Neuenbürg, with around 7,500 inhabitants, is a former mining town on the northern edge of the Black Forest. The town owes its history to iron ore mining (Schaubergwerk Frischglück), which shaped its identity until the 20th century. Today, Neuenbürg is a tourist destination – Neuenbürg Castle with the Mythos adventure trail, the Enz river, and the northern Black Forest as local recreation areas. The Stoppelmarkt on October 3, coinciding with German Unity Day, concludes the town's autumn event program and attracts visitors from the Enzkreis, the city of Pforzheim, and the northern Black Forest.
The city of Neuenbürg is organizing the 2026 Stoppelmarkt in its usual format – a one-day autumn market on German Unity Day. Stalls will be spread along the main streets of the town center. The assortment includes handicrafts (knitted and crocheted items, pottery, wood, jewelry), leather goods, fashion, regional food from the Black Forest (honey, schnapps, cheese), and individual gift items.
The hobby and craft market will open simultaneously in the former Volksbank building – an indoor exhibition of local and regional hobby craftspeople and artists. The town's clubs will offer bratwurst, coffee and cake, crêpes, and sweets along the market streets. The market serves as both an autumn shopping event and a community meeting point on the public holiday.
