A Festival on the Stubble Field
When the grain harvest is completed in August and the stubble stands in the fields, the hottest phase of the year begins for the village youth of Nellingsheim: the preparation of the Stoppelackerfest. From Friday, August 7 to Sunday, August 9, 2026, the young people will transform a stubble field on the Stetter Berg hill — between Nellingsheim and the neighboring village of Wolfenhausen, both districts of the municipality of Neustetten — into an open-air festival site. Stage, bar, tent, and tables will be set up directly on the field, the typical smell of dry straw mixing with charcoal smoke and beer foam.
Organized by the Nellingsheim Youth Club e.V.
The Nellingsheim Youth Club e.V. is the festival's sponsoring association. A group of young people aged 14 and over who have been managing the local youth club for years and organize the Stoppelackerfest once a year. All tasks — from setup to bar shifts to waste disposal — are carried out voluntarily by the association members. Profits are reinvested in the youth club: for new furniture, play equipment, renovations. This ensures the festival remains a direct investment in the village youth.
Three Days of Program
Friday evening from 7:00 PM, the festival opens with a DJ set and cocktail reception. The first live band takes over around 9:00 PM and plays until midnight. Saturday is the main festival day — the first guests arrive from noon, with festivities starting at 2:00 PM. Several bands will perform throughout the afternoon and evening, with the headliner band at 10:00 PM being the highlight. Sunday from 11:00 AM, a "Frühschoppen" (morning pint) with brass music and lunch, followed by a relaxed beer festival with family activities in the afternoon, winding down around 6:00 PM.
Swabian-Rustic
The culinary offerings are deliberately rustic-Swabian: grilled sausages, steaks, fries, Swabian "Maultaschen" (dumplings) from the previous evening in soup or fried, grilled pork belly, potato salad, bread with lard. For dessert, there are "Schmalzgebäck" (fried pastries) and yeast braids from the local baker. Drinks include: draft beer (regional brewery), wine from nearby Württemberg, cocktails (Mojito, Caipirinha) at the rural youth cocktail stand.
Neustetten and its Three Districts
Neustetten is a small municipality in the Tübingen district, formed in 1971 from the three villages of Nellingsheim, Wolfenhausen, and Remmingsheim. Nellingsheim, the largest of the three districts, is home to the youth club and thus the host location of the Stoppelackerfest. The Stetter Berg field is picturesquely located between Nellingsheim and Wolfenhausen — a hill with a wide view over the rolling Swabian Jura foothills. On clear days, you can see as far as the Swabian Jura. A festival in a landscape that shows its full beauty during the harvest months of August/September.
