North Germany's largest fabric market — twice a year in Neumünster's city center
In the heart of Neumünster, the largest city in the Neumünster district (independent city) in the state of Schleswig-Holstein, Kleinflecken transforms into a huge fabric market twice a year. The Stoffköste is considered the largest event of its kind in North Germany and the only one in Schleswig-Holstein. Over 100 exhibitors display bolts, cuts, and end pieces at market stalls — from cotton, linen, and silk to children's fabrics, decorative fabrics, and curtains.
The Stoffköste appeals equally to hobby sewers, design students, and professional seamstresses. In addition to fabrics by the bolt or by the piece, visitors will find patterns, buttons, zippers, thread, ribbons, and all the accessories that should not be missing in a well-stocked sewing studio. Several stalls offer selected designer fabrics and unusual prints, while others focus on end-of-line items at special prices.
Parallel to the Stoffköste, the shops in Neumünster's city center open their doors from 12 PM to 5 PM — ideal for combining your market visit with a relaxed stroll through the Holsten-Galerie and the old town alleys. Restaurants, cafés, and food trucks around Kleinflecken provide culinary breaks between fabric-hunting sessions.
Organized by Citymanagement Neumünster with support from Stoffmarkt Holland, the Holsten-Galerie, and Sparkasse Südholstein, the Stoffköste is a firm fixture in the North German hobby calendar. The spring and autumn dates attract visitors from all over Schleswig-Holstein, Hamburg, and Lower Saxony — in good weather, Kleinflecken can barely contain everyone.
In 2026, the Stoffköste will stick to its twice-yearly rhythm — spring and autumn — once again using Kleinflecken as the central marketplace in the heart of Neumünster. On both Sundays, the cobblestones between Großflecken and Holsten-Galerie will transform into a colorful fabric mile with over 100 exhibitors.
Parallel to the Stoffköste, the shops in Neumünster's city center invite you for Sunday shopping, while food trucks and cafés around Kleinflecken provide culinary catering.
