Grand lakeside festival with over 100 market stalls at the Kell am See reservoir — last Sunday in July 2026
The Seefest in Kell am See is one of the most popular summer festivals in the Hochwald. The Kell reservoir, nestled in the wooded landscape of the Saar-Hunsrück Nature Park, provides a picturesque backdrop for the day. Starting at 11 AM, over 100 stalls open along the lakeside promenade — a mix of regional farmers' stalls, craftspeople, and food vendors, making the festival a complete day trip.
The farmers' and craftsmen's market forms the backbone of the Seefest. At the stalls, producers and craftspeople from the Hochwald and the entire region present their products: honey, jams, sausages, cheese, bread, liqueurs, woodwork, ceramics, textile crafts, and much more. The market is an ideal opportunity to meet regional producers directly and discover local specialties.
The gastronomy at the Seefest is diverse and embraces the lakeside theme: smoked trout, grilled specialties from Hochwald cattle, bratwurst, fries, and summer snacks are available along the promenade. Coffee and cake offerings, cocktail bars, and drink stands complete the culinary picture. Those who stay for the whole day will be thoroughly satisfied gastronomically.
The Seefest is explicitly tailored for families. For the younger guests, there are pony rides, a bouncy castle, face painting, and other activities available throughout the day. The Hochwald-Ferienland and its partners organize the program so that parents can enjoy the market and gastronomy while the children are entertained — a key reason for the festival's high popularity among families.
Kell am See is located in the Saar-Hunsrück Nature Park, one of Germany's most wooded regions. The reservoir is a popular destination for hiking, cycling, and water sports. The Seefest combines this tourist appeal with a high-quality market offering — a combination that attracts thousands of visitors annually from the greater Trier, Saarbrücken, and Luxembourg areas.
The Seefest runs as an all-day summer festival at the reservoir. Opening at 11 AM, with peak activity in the afternoon and winding down in the early evening. Families typically plan for a full day.
The exact date for 2026 will be confirmed by Hochwald-Ferienland. The event is weather-dependent — individual program items may be adjusted in case of extreme rain.
