Three days of circus, artistry, and dance in the historic spa park
The Kurpark Bad Salzdetfurth is one of the defining landmarks of the Lower Saxon brine spa town. Characterized by two historic graduation towers, the outdoor mineral pool, expansive lawns, shady tree-lined avenues, and the Lamme river flowing through the park, it offers an extraordinary backdrop for an open-air festival. The Spectacle in the Kurpark fully utilizes this setting: small stages, performance areas, and meeting points are created at various locations within the park, inviting visitors to stroll around.
The focus is on artists from the fields of contemporary circus and street art: aerial silk acrobats, jugglers, equilibrists, clowns, stilt walkers, walking acts, and dance companies. The performances are short, concise, and designed so that families with children can easily move from one show to the next.
The Spectacle is deliberately designed as a family festival. Interactive workshops, children's acrobatics, craft stations, and face painting complement the stage programs. For adults, there are more sophisticated dance productions, atmospheric light installations in the evening, and musical contributions at the stage points.
Bad Salzdetfurth, located in the southern part of the Hildesheim district, has a long tradition of hospitality as a recognized brine spa and climatic health resort. The Spectacle in the Kurpark opens this spa atmosphere to a broad audience, combining classic spa park flair with the energy of a contemporary festival.
The festival spans three days β from Thursday evening (opening) to Sunday afternoon (family finale). Those planning a day trip should best choose Saturday or Sunday with the densest program. Those staying longer will benefit from the quieter atmosphere of the evening events and the special mood in the graduation towers at dusk.
The 2026 edition features a mix of established festival artists and young companies. A dedicated family program on Wednesday and Thursday focuses on the youngest guests, while evening performances of dance and acrobatics deepen the program for adults.
The graduation towers and the Wandelhaus offer additional event locations in case of rain or cooler weather, ensuring the spectacle can proceed even with changeable May weather.
The exact program for 2026 will be published by the organizer in the spring. The structure follows the proven cornerstones of previous years:
