Getting There
Train: Take the RE2 line (Cottbus–Berlin) to Vetschau (Spreewald) station. It is about a 10-minute walk to the town center.
Car: Take the A15 motorway (Lübbenau–Forst) and exit at Vetschau. Parking is available around the town center.
Admission
In previous years, admission to the festival grounds and all stage events was free; rides, food, and drinks were available for purchase on-site.

The Vetschau/Spreewald City Festival
The Vetschau/Spreewald City Festival is the premier public celebration for this Lower Lusatian town situated between Cottbus and Lübben. Organized by the town of Vetschau/Spreewald, it is traditionally held during a weekend in early September. The festival spans two main locations: Hellmannplatz, which hosts the fairground, and the Friedrich-Ludwig-Jahn-Sportplatz, which serves as the main stage area. Admission has been free for all previous editions.
The 32nd Edition in September 2025
The 32nd City Festival took place from September 5 to 7, 2025, organized by the town of Vetschau/Spreewald in collaboration with HARD Unterhaltungs-Technologie. Friday's program included a seniors' coffee afternoon with music, the ceremonial keg tapping, and a dance party capped off by fireworks at 10:30 PM. Saturday featured a full stage program, numerous interactive stations, human table football, and line dancing. Sunday was dedicated to the morning pint with the Vetschau Music Association, a 43-meter Ninja Warrior course, bouncy castles, and a children's disco. The fairground at Hellmannplatz was open throughout the weekend, and admission was free on all days.
Vetschau/Spreewald – The Sorbian-German Double Church
Vetschau, home to approximately 7,500 residents in the Oberspreewald-Lausitz district, lies on the western edge of the Spreewald region. The town is best known for its Wendish-German Double Church, where services were historically held in two separate naves for the German and Sorbian congregations—a unique architectural monument to Sorbian-German history. The city festival reflects this cultural blend and celebrates the town's bilingual (German/Sorbian) identity.
