Festival mile around the Hauptwache on the Elbe
Lenzen is one of the oldest towns in Brandenburg, first mentioned in documents in 929. The small town in the Prignitz district is located directly on the west bank of the Elbe, opposite the border with the Wendland region of Lower Saxony. With Lenzen Castle, the historic town centre, and its connection to the Elbe Cycle Route, Lenzen is an important stop in the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Elbe River Landscape Brandenburg.
The Hauptwache — historically the town guard building, today the central square in the town centre — becomes a festival mile every year at the end of June. The Stadtfest is the big summer event for the people of Lenzen: a weekend of stages, stalls, carousels, and catering in a confined space, right in the middle of the old town. The format is typically Westprignitz — manageable, friendly, with a strong connection to the region.
The Stadtfest follows a proven concept from previous editions. For 2026, the following are expected:
The festival weekend is a great opportunity to explore Lenzen comprehensively. Lenzen Castle now houses the BUND visitor centre for the biosphere reserve. Those who stay longer can explore the Elbe Cycle Route in both directions, walk along the Elbe dyke, or book a guided nature tour with a ranger from the biosphere reserve. On the same weekend, an angling competition and a guided nature tour by the ranger will take place concurrently — a packed programme for a long summer weekend in the Elbe valley.
The Stadtfest Lenzen 2026 will be celebrated on the weekend of June 27–28, 2026, at the Hauptwache and in the adjacent alleys of the old town. The Amt Lenzen-Elbtalaue invites you to a classic Stadtfest weekend with live music, a regional market, a club mile, and family activities.
The detailed programme will be published shortly before the date on the website of the Amt Lenzen-Elbtalaue (amtlenzen.de/veranstaltungen). Based on previous years, expect live music with regional bands, a market with Prignitz specialities, carousels for children, a club mile, and catering from Lenzen's restaurateurs. On the same weekend, an angling competition and a ranger tour of the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve will take place in the region — a good opportunity to combine the festival weekend with a stay in the Elbe valley.
Detailed programme to be published by the Amt Lenzen-Elbtalaue shortly before the date. Expected elements — based on previous years' editions:
