Summery town festival on the Kirchplatz in the Salzlandkreis
If you're traveling through the Salzlandkreis in the summer and looking for a classic town festival away from the major tourist crowds, Güsten is a good choice. The small town in the Wipper valley – between Bernburg, Aschersleben, and Staßfurt – has been celebrating its town festival around the Kirchplatz for years. It is supported by the town of Güsten and local clubs, and organizationally integrated into the Saale-Wipper administrative district.
The format is reliable: a stage at the Kirchplatz with live music (regional bands), catering stands from Güsten's clubs (marksmen's club, fire brigade, sports clubs), a family program with a bouncy castle and face painting, and traditionally a fireworks display over the town on Saturday evening. The program is curated by, among others, the Bürgerstiftung (community foundation) and the town administration in cooperation with the volunteer festival committee.
Güsten is one of the oldest documented settlements in the region – a market town as early as the Middle Ages. Its location in the Saale-Wipper administrative district in the southern Salzlandkreis makes the town a hub between Bernburg, Aschersleben, and the Magdeburger Börde. The state of Saxony-Anhalt has helped preserve many small town festivals in this region — Güsten is one of them.
The town of Güsten is organizing its 2026 Stadtfest according to the proven format. On the central stage at the Kirchplatz, regional live bands will perform, the clubs will provide food and activities, and the family program aims for weekend participation. The traditional highlight is the fireworks display on Saturday evening.
The Stadtfest was held in 2022, 2024, and 2025 — a vibrant, ongoing event whose date and band lineup are published by the festival committee in spring.

By car via the A14 (Bernburg exit) or the B6, then take the B185 towards Güsten. By train to Güsten (Magdeburg–Halle line), 5 min. walk to the Kirchplatz. Parking available in the town center.
Expected June 2026, three days Friday to Sunday. Free admission. The date will be announced in spring 2026 by the town of Güsten and the Saale-Wipper administrative district.
Family-friendly town festival in the city center. Dogs on a leash are permitted, but rather impractical in dense festival crowds.
