A City Festival as Old as Reunified Germany

In 2026, the Stadtfest Dreieich will be celebrated for the 36th time – and it can claim a tradition that no other city festival in Hesse has: it has taken place uninterruptedly on German Unity Day since 1990. The first edition was held just as German reunification had been decided – since then, the festival on October 3rd marks the autumnal highlight in the event calendar of the city between Frankfurt and Darmstadt.

The B3 Becomes a Festival Mile

The venue is not a square, but a street: the B3, which runs through the district in Sprendlingen as Frankfurter Straße, Hauptstraße, and Darmstädter Straße. Over a section of about one kilometer from Elisabethenstraße to just before the curve at Hauptstraße/Darmstädter Straße, clubs, shops, restaurateurs, and city initiatives transform the otherwise heavily trafficked federal highway into a pedestrian zone for a day.

More Than 100 Exhibitors

Over 100 stalls with culinary diversity from around the world, club offerings, arts and crafts, and business presentations crowd the festival mile. It is a classic communal city festival that doesn't rely on headliner acts but on the breadth of participants – from the Sportgemeinschaft Sprendlingen to the Protestant church community, from Turkish snack vendors to Italian wine merchants. This diversity is the program and reflects Dreieich's self-image as a multicultural commuter town.

Stage Program from the Region

Several stages along the festival mile offer a colorful program of music, culture, and entertainment. Bands from the Rhine-Main region and artists from the Dreieich scene alternate, along with dance groups, choir performances, and children's programs. The exact artist list for 2026 will be published a few weeks before the festival on the Stadtfest website – the application period for exhibitors and acts starts at the beginning of May each year.

Shopping on a Public Holiday

A special feature of the Dreieich city festival: it is one of the few shopping days on October 3rd in Hesse. Shops along the B3 open during the festival, allowing you to combine strolling, shopping, and visiting the festival. For retailers, the festival is an economic anchor in autumn, and for the city, it's proof that Sprendlingen, as the historic town center, remains vibrant.

Dreieich – The City of Three Oaks

Dreieich was formed in 1977 through the incorporation of several villages and consists of the five districts Sprendlingen, Buchschlag, Götzenhain, Offenthal, and Dreieichenhain. With around 42,000 inhabitants, it is one of the larger towns in the Offenbach district and benefits from its location between Frankfurt Airport, Frankfurt-Süd, and Darmstadt. The city festival, organized by the Bürgerhäuser Dreieich as a municipal enterprise, is one of the identity-forming formats that brings the districts together spatially and programmatically once a year.
