Three days of music, culture, and hands-on fun in the Old Town
Neu-Isenburg, founded in 1699 by Huguenot refugees from France, has a peculiar urban identity: The "Alte Ort" (Old Town) is the original, systematically planned Huguenot settlement with a straight axis between the market square and the Hugenottenhalle. Every year in June, the Altstadtfest takes place here – a city festival that repurposes the historic center into a festival mile for three days.
The concept of the Altstadtfest is intergenerational: during the day, the focus is on families, clubs, and children; in the evening, the stage belongs to live music. Changing venues – market square, Frankfurter Straße, squares around the "Haus zum Löwen" city museum – make the festival a discovery tour through the Huguenot architecture.
As with many city festivals in Hesse, clubs and initiatives from Neu-Isenburg contribute a large part of the program: sports clubs give demonstrations, carnival clubs present themselves, choirs sing, dance groups perform. Catering at the stands is also handled by the clubs – bratwurst, fries, beer from the local brewery, cake from the church choir.
The organizer is the Hugenottenhalle, the municipal cultural center at the end of Frankfurter Straße, which provides logistics and communication for the festival. The Stadtmuseum Haus zum Löwen in Löwengasse is open longer during the festival – a good opportunity to learn more about the city's Huguenot history.
Neu-Isenburg is located in the southern suburban belt of Frankfurt am Main, directly on the S-Bahn line S3 (Bad Soden – Darmstadt). This makes the festival easily accessible for people from Frankfurt and Offenbach – and especially on Saturday evenings, the audience from the entire region mingles.
The Altstadtfest is part of Neu-Isenburg's regular annual rhythm – an event where the Huguenot city presents itself with its clubs and initiatives. The combination of the historic city center, vibrant club life, and an open program for all generations makes the weekend one of the most important city festivals in the southern suburban belt of Frankfurt.
The detailed stage and program schedule for 2026 will be published in spring 2026 on the Hugenottenhalle website. The previous year's format was typical: opening on Friday evening, main program on Saturday, family focus on Sunday.
The complete 2026 stage program with artists will be announced by the Hugenottenhalle before the festival.
Free admission. Food and drinks at the club stands.
