Community festival in Schopfheim's Old Town with barrel tapping and Alemannic charm
Schopfheim is located in the southern Black Forest — and the name of the festival reveals the region's Alemannic identity: „Städtli Fescht“ instead of „Stadtfest“, „Fescht“ instead of „Fest“, „Städtli“ instead of „Stadt“. It's more than a spelling — it's a mark that this festival comes from the town itself, not from a tourism concept.
The organizer is the IG Städtlifest Schopfheim — an interest group of Schopfheim clubs that have been organizing the festival together for decades. The concept: Clubs provide catering themselves, and the proceeds go to their club work. Local bands perform on stage, and club stands line Wallstraße and the side streets of the Old Town.
The opening is on Friday, June 27th, 2026, at 6 PM with the barrel tapping — the traditional act that officially allows the beer to flow. On Saturday, the festival in the Old Town runs from afternoon until late into the night — stage music, dancing, catering. On Sunday, the festival opens at 11 AM for the Frühschoppen (morning pint) and continues until the afternoon. Free admission.
Schopfheim, with around 19,500 inhabitants, is located in the Lörrach district (Baden-Württemberg), between Lörrach and the Black Forest. The historic Old Town around Wallstraße is well-preserved — half-timbered houses, cobblestone streets, and remnants of the town wall characterize the scene. The Städtli Fescht uses precisely this backdrop as its stage.
A traditional peculiarity of the festival: It takes place in any weather. In case of rain, the club stands move under awnings, and the stage music moves into the festival tent or local pubs. The people of Schopfheim still come — that's part of the identity.
The 2026 edition continues the proven tradition: community festival in Schopfheim's Old Town, organized by the IG Städtlifest. The barrel tapping on Friday evening is the official opening, after which the program runs in the Old Town until late. Local bands play on several small stages, and the club stands offer sausages, beer, wine, fries, and South German specialties.
