About Wine and Fishermen's Festival

From July 31 to August 2, 2026, the UNESCO World Heritage Island of Reichenau celebrates its 45th Wine and Fishermen's Festival at Herrenbrücke Marina. For three days, eleven Reichenau associations will serve fresh Lake Constance fish, and the Reichenau Winegrowers' Cooperative will pour wines from their own vineyards — right by the water, with views of Lake Constance and the Swiss Alps. One of the most prominent summer Volksfeste (popular festivals) in the Lake Constance region.

Festival on the UNESCO World Heritage Island

The island of Reichenau in Lake Constance has been a UNESCO World Heritage site since 2000 — its former monastic churches of St. Maria and Markus, St. Peter and Paul, and St. Georg are among the most significant examples of Carolingian and Ottonian architecture in Europe. Today, the island is also the premier vegetable-growing area of Lake Constance, one of the oldest wine-growing regions in Southern Germany, and a vibrant center of Lake Constance fishery. The Wine and Fishermen's Festival brings all these strands together — in its 45th edition from Friday, July 31, to Sunday, August 2, 2026.

Fresh Lake Constance Fish at the Marina

The venue is the Herrenbrücke Marina right on the lake — an open, spacious festival area between the harbor basin and the island side. Reichenau's Lake Constance fishermen bring fresh whitefish, char, pike, and zander directly from the jetty to the festival plates. Smoked, fried, deep-fried, in a bun, or as a dish — all traditional preparations are available at the stalls. The freshness is not marketing, but reality: the fishermen's boats dock just a few meters away.

Wines from the Reichenau Winegrowers' Cooperative

The Reichenau Winegrowers' Cooperative cultivates the vineyards on the island's slopes — one of the northernmost and oldest wine-growing regions in Southern Germany, traditionally featuring Müller-Thurgau, Riesling, Weißburgunder, and Spätburgunder. At their stand, festival-goers can sample a cross-section of the island's wines; bottles are available for purchase to take home.

Eleven Associations, Three Days of Music

The festival is supported by eleven Reichenau associations — including music, sports, shooting, traditional costume, and church groups — who provide catering, stage programs, and logistical support, ensuring the festival retains its popular character. The stage program ranges from brass band music on Sunday morning (Frühschoppen) to live bands on Saturday evening (rock, cover, party music). Families can find space on the wide festival grounds, children can marvel at the boats by the harbor, and the Lake Constance atmosphere is omnipresent.

Reichenau in the District of Konstanz

Reichenau belongs to the district of Konstanz in the state of Baden-Württemberg, at the western end of Lake Constance, near the Swiss border. With just under 5,200 inhabitants, the island municipality is a major tourist destination — World Heritage, horticultural production, wine, and fish are its economic pillars, and the Wine and Fishermen's Festival is the annual showcase of this profile. One of the most beautiful summer events on the entire German shore of Lake Constance.

Wine and Fishermen's Festival — edition 2026

The 45th edition of the Reichenau Wine and Fishermen's Festival runs from July 31 to August 2, 2026, at Herrenbrücke Marina. Opening hours Fri 5 PM–1 AM, Sat 12 PM–1 AM, Sun 10:30 AM–11 PM. Free admission.

2026 Program

The 45th Wine and Fishermen's Festival takes place over three days at Herrenbrücke Marina. It opens on Friday evening; Saturday is the main day with an evening stage program; Sunday features a Frühschoppen (morning pint) with a Lake Constance fishermen's breakfast and the festival's closing in the evening.

The island associations — from music groups to sports, shooting, traditional costume, and church groups — set up their stalls and share the catering duties. The Lake Constance fishermen bring their daily catch directly to the festival grounds, and the Reichenau Winegrowers' Cooperative sets up its stand with a selection of island wines. The exact stage program will be published before the festival.
