Arts and Crafts and Advent Market on the first weekend of Advent in front of St. Sebastian Church — an established tradition in the Aachen region
The St. Sebastian Arts and Christmas Market has been the central Advent market in Würselen for decades, a medium-sized town in the Aachen region. The market takes place every year on the first weekend of Advent in front of the parish church of the same name. In 2026, the event runs on Saturday, November 28 and Sunday, November 29, from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM each day. The organizers are the St. Sebastian parish together with the Christmas Market Support Association.
What sets the market apart from purely commercial Christmas markets is the strong focus on arts and crafts: local artists and craftspeople present handmade gift ideas, jewelry, ceramics, textile work, wooden items, and decorations. This makes the market a popular shopping destination for authentic Advent gifts beyond mass-produced goods. In addition, stalls offer:
The St. Sebastian Parish Church forms the spiritual and architectural center of the market. In the shadow of the church, the wooden stalls, festively lit fir trees, and the onset of dusk on Saturday and Sunday evenings create a special Advent atmosphere. On both days, the church also hosts contemplative concerts and services.
Würselen is a town with around 38,000 inhabitants in the Aachen region (North Rhine-Westphalia), bordering the cathedral city of Aachen to the north (approx. 4 km distance). Shaped by historical hard coal mining and now developed as a residential and commuter town for Aachen, Würselen preserves an independent town center with St. Sebastian Church and the market square. The Arts and Christmas Market is one of the most well-known local festivals of the Advent season in the region and attracts visitors from Aachen, Bardenberg, Alsdorf, and Baesweiler.
The 2026 St. Sebastian Arts and Christmas Market opens its stalls on the first weekend of Advent in front of the parish church in Würselen. On both days, the market follows the proven concept with a focus on arts and crafts.
The exact dates for concerts and services in the parish church will be published by the parish shortly before the market.
Free admission. Food, drinks, and arts and crafts at the stalls at market prices.
Würselen is located 4 km north of Aachen, accessible via the A4 (Aachen-Eilendorf exit) and the B57. Public transport: Bus lines from Aachen and Alsdorf. Aachen main station is reachable with a short bus ride. Parking is available around the town center and at St. Sebastian Church.
Saturday, November 28, 2026 — 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Sunday, November 29, 2026 — 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Free admission.
The evening hours (from approx. 5:00 PM) are particularly atmospheric — the lighting is fully showcased, and the church forms a striking backdrop. Visitors to Aachen can combine the Aachen Christmas Market in the evening with the Würselen market.
